I didn't manage to go out biking yesterday as it was to cold, frosty & I thought it was a bit risky on the roads but I did for walking today. Anna & Emma couldn't make it so I dragged James along instead we also took the dogs. To my surprise I had trouble keeping up with James, he walks at a real fast pace that I'm clearly not use to you!

Back to the gym this week for me which was hard as I haven't been for nearly 2 weeks because I've had that dreaded cold. All being well I plan to head out at the weekend to do some training weather permitting.

We had a great response with local bussiness's supporting our raffle which will be drawn at our quiz night. Thank you to Tesco at Tenterden and Sainsbury's from Ashford who have leant there support and contributed towards our prizes.

Firstly Happy Birthday to my dad and my sister Anna who have had birthdays this weekend.

Anna and I were meant to go training today (Emma is working) but we didn't go as we have both been poorly with a horrible cold and sore throats etc so we are trying quickly to get better so we will be fit enough for next weekend.

Well I didn't make it walking today as I have woken up with a nasty cold which is a shame because the sun is shinning.

Still it gives me some time to research some more quiz questions while I'm snuggled up on my sofa!

Been to the gym everyday this week apart from Friday, went out on my bike this morning and plan to do a 10k walk tomorrow with James, Anna, Emma & the dogs. So training is going to plan.

Emma and I are also busy organising our last big fundraising event before we take on our challenge. This will be another quiz night on the 9h March, ppreviously they have been very successful, so we hope everyone will turn out in force to support us.

We have already sent out some raffle prize letter requests and we have already had a good response, so thank you to those local companies for supporting us, Leeds Castle and Coty Rimmel.

I got the bike out again on Saturday and went for a long ride making the best of the weather. Emma, Anna & I went for a 2 hour trek today along the same route as last week along the military canal from Appledore towards Rye. We wore our trekking gear including our rucksacks, I took my dogs along as well so we all benefited!!!!

New year

Hi everyone,

Its been a strange old start to the year for me, i won't indulge in details but it has got me thinking about the future and of course this trip to china. I have thrown myself into training with swimming, cycling and then today Sarah, Anna and myself headed to Appledore to trek along the military canal, it was great being out in the fresh air with our kit on pushing through each mile.
Training is my life now for the next 4 months and i have to say it will be quiet an achievement when we do reach our destination of china.
Sarah and I had a good old catch up in the pub on Thursday night, not only did we discuss training, the pending quiz night but we also discussed our fears for the trip. It was good to find out how each other is really feeling and how different our fears are. no matter how small or big its normal to have them and we are no different.

We bid a sad farewell to our chief executive of Canterbury Oast Trust David Jackson on Friday, his support has been amazing and we are truly grateful so David happy retirement and thank you for being a support to us.

well i am aching all over, have more training planned for tomorrow so will say bye bye for now.

take care all

Emma

I forgot to say Emma and I were on the front page of the Ashford Herald last week, it was Emma that spotted it, she quickly rang me to tell me the good news. Then that night once I finished work I went out and grabbed a load of copies. Did anyone see or read it?

I must thank Rosie my manger at work for forwarding our article onto the relevant people.

I would also like to thank Daph Ransley and Debbie Birch for very kindly each making a donation to our China Trek fund.

I hope you all had a good Xmas drank and ate lots, well the New Year is here which means 2 things for me and Emma,

1 - We can now both say we are going to china this year,
2 - Means serious training ahead of us.

My training is going well so far this year, on Saturday I did a 2 hour walk with my dogs along the military canal from Appledore to Rye, although I didn't reach Rye which is 8 miles away! Once I have built up my stamina I aim to make it. Anna joined me too and the plan is to do a long walk each weekend. Yesterday and today I got my bike out and went for a ride while the sun was shining, I haven't been out on my bike since last September so my legs are really hurting now!!!

Emma and I plan to meet up this Thursday night to make plans for our training, I hope she can join Anna and I on our walks depending on how her shifts fall at work. We also have another quiz night planned for march so we also need to do some prep for that.

Happy New Year to you all and lets hope 2012 is a good one.
