Well how are we all?

I got all my paper work back today from the DVLA today so that means only one thing, I am all legal and have got my new car on the road so watch out for a Silver Ford Focus!!!!!!!

The Quiz Night is coming along nicely we only have a few tables left if anyone is interested, just let me or Emma know. Lots of local companies including local attractions have been very generous in donating prizes so these will go towards the raffle on the night.

Oh yes my cat Rory is doing fine, he hasn't been back on the treadmill again!

Some unusual but great news, the chef Phil Vickery has kindly signed a copy of our cookbook which also contains a couple of his recipes that he donated to us. This is fab news so Emma & I are thinking about doing an auction of promises if we receive some more brilliant items like these. So a big thank you Phil, much appreciated. x

Thanks to Sarah's family for the donation and also to frineds of mine, Trevor and Lynne who kindly donated money also.
Im finding I am talking more and more about the Charity challenge Sarah and I are going to be doing, its bringing so many positive comments it really is exciting and fantastic for the charity.
Had some great gym sessions this week with lots of work on the stepper and i did complete a personal best for a mile run on the treadmill, will be back there in the morning the receptionist has said im there almost as much as he is which i took as a compliment.

We've made the papers!

Posted by Sarah 20-01-2011

Well well well Emma and I have made the papers!
The reporter that contacted me last week has printed an article on us both and our trek. I am yet to see it but I am assured it does exist in this weeks Ashford Kentish Express. Lets hope this is one of many articles to come, as the more publicity we can get will help raise awareness of our fundraising events, the trek and most importantly the Charity.
Our cookbook is also selling well, I have sold over 10 copies already!

Its my dads birthday today so Happy Birthday old boy!

I'm off to buy a copy of the Kentish now!

Chow for now x

Its the weekend by Emma

I phoned sarah yesterday for our daily catch up, sarahs voice sounded excited and she said i hope your sitting down, nope actually i was in B and Q so sitting down wasnt an option, untill i found a washing machine so i perched on that.
Cook book arriving, Dan from KM ringing, more raffle prizes arriving it was all to much. I did a little dance down the aisle.
If I recieve news like this everyday I will have a smile on my face untill we reach The Great Wall. Its fantastic news and the kindness shown from so many is overwhelming.
Sarah has a  new car after her skid on the ice so our pub meetings can return, its important we catch up weekly as the work load is increasing, and it being at the pub is very important for our social lives.
I have had the dreaded lergy this week but still managed to drag myself to the gym inbetween spending a few days in bed, I have myself a good workout going now that concerntrates on leg strength and burning calories, When my muscles are burning, my heart rate going through the roof i just take a deep breath and say its all in the name of charity.
Dont forget to book your tables for the quiz night and watch this space for news that the raffle tickets are on sale, with the quantity and quality of the prizes we hope everyone will purchase a ticket or two.
The cook book which i have sat in front of me is amazing, the work that has gone into the details are clear to see, the recipes are interesting, if only we could decide on a price and when and where we will launch.......soon very soon it will be ON SALE.
Well thats me signing out, I am taking a well deserved day off and heading to the coast to visit some friends, goodbye for now.

I have had a really busy day today and its true things do come in three's,
Firstly Emma and I have been writing to lots of different companies asking for raffle prizes and I received some back today through the post so that's all good.
Secondly I had a phone call from a really nice man Dan Hickford from the KM group who would like to write an article about us both and our trek. This was totally out the blue and we really appreciate all the publicity that we can get so I look forward to working with Dan on this. Will keep you posted if and when the article goes to print.
Thirdly I took delivery of our much awaited cook book it looks amazing and I know you are all dying to take a look and maybe make a purchase but you will have to be patient just a little bit longer as my OLD pal Emma has yet to see them.
I just want to take this opportunity to say a BIG THANK YOU to BUCKLAND PRESS from Dover who kindly printed all the cookbooks for free, we can't thank you all enough and we both really appreciate all you have done for us.  http://www.buckland.co.uk/
What a busy day its been to say the least, right I'm off now to watch my soaps!!!!!!!!!!!!

I said I would let you know how my week went my keep fit regime! Well I have done 1 hours worth of Power Walking on my tread mill everyday and also 200 sit ups a day. I am also trying to drink at least 1 litre of water a day and I know you think that's no big deal but believe me it is to me because I hate cold drinks! I've been told by my sister that's its good for your skin and she said that if you are exercising I need to be upping my fluid in take. Emma has also said to me that I need to start getting use to drinking lots for when we are actually on the trek. I found there is a  down side to drinking lots and that is I spend most of my day dashing to the loo, I know you really wanted to know that!

Raffle prizes by Emma

With in the last week many letters to local companies and even further a field companies have been sent kindly asking for a raffle prize for our quiz night raffle.
Sarah and I would love to hear from you if you feel you could help us or no someone that could help us with raffle prizes or if you have had success with this yourself with donations.
I would just like to give special thanks to Scott a local driving instructor in Ashford who has kindly donated 5 hours of free tuition. This kind of support is much appreciated.
You can find out information about Scott and his driving instructing via
www.freedom-drive.com

We had another justgiving donation from a Millets customer advisor who donated himself because his company could only provide a 20% off voucher, a voucher that will still be so beneficial to us, thank you glen for the donation.
we will ofcourse list all companies who provide us with a raffle prize under the sponsors section of our blog.
I had a shock today as i googled for other peoples blogs who have already completed the challenege and i sat watching you tube clips, it actually hit me just how difficult certain sections of the wall is and how fit we are going to have to be. I have seen some pictures today that make you shudder, its still so exciting.

Well Happy New Year everyone, I know I haven't been posting much on the blog lately but as with everyone Xmas is a hectic time and I managed to write my car off in the ice so have been busy sorting that and trying to buy a new one. On the plus side I have been getting plenty of exercise walking to work!
So the New Year is upon us and we have had the dates confirmed for our trek we actually fly out on the 12 May 2012. Emma and I are already planning lots of Events for this Year, the 1st one being a Quiz Night to be held on Thursday 24th March at the Rarebreeds Centre Function Room. So does any one fancy getting a team together and joining us for the evening? Teams are a maximum of 8 players, there will be a bar, raffle and its £2 each to enter with all proceeds going to The Canterbury Oast Trust and Rarebreeds Centre our chosen charity we are raising money for alongside our trek.
There is limited tables for the quiz night so do get in touch if you are interested, contact me on, sk@rarebreeds.org.uk  01233 861493.
When the weather gets better I hope to start running and cycling again, I feel like a slug at the moment as I haven't done any  proper exercise in ages. Its either to dark, snowing or raining when I get time and want to go out.
I also fancy doing an assault course, I know you will think I am mad but it's something I have always wanted to do one and of course I will be making Emma do it as well! So does anyone know of any local ones? My sister seems to think there is one at Moat Park in Maidstone but I have tried google this with no success.

Right I am off now to do some sit ups then watch the darts. Xx
