Thanks for taking the time to follow Sarahs and Mines blog which will follow us through our journey until we reach 'The Great wall of China' and beyond.
Many years ago I set myself a goal of taking on a charity challenge before i reached the age of 30 and here I am, many people ask me why ? so I hope my words below explains all........

I have worked for Canterbury Oast Trust for 7 years caring and supporting adults with disabilities I see daily what the money raised for this charity does to the lives of the adults I care for, when I first got together with  Sarah to discuss my idea of a charity challenge I thought it was to soon, in the last five years I have undergone four knee operations to rebuild my knee after a sporting injury, but after months of rehabilitation and returning to exercise successfully by completing the London 10k in July 2010, where I raised money for Canterbury Oast trust. I felt that the challenge was in fact achievable, having been discharged from the hospital I feel I have nothing holding me back now.
I am looking forward to fundraising to achieve a goal of £5000, training hard which will see both Sarah and I complete a detailed training programme put together by ourselves and then of course the challenge itself, which will see us take on the great wall of china trekking anything for up to 8 hours a day. I am really looking forward to pushing my abilities to a new level and taking on a challenge that will see a charity I am passionate about gain with the money raised.
We have so much support from our family and friends and Canterbury Oast trust and rare breeds centre, it would be impossible to even consider failing this challenge.

I would like to thank my family and friends for their support, i would like to thank Canterbury Oast Trust and of course Sarah for taking on this challenge of a lifetime with me.

June 2011.....Sarah and i have been fundraising for some 9 months now just reaching £3200 which is an amazing achievement, we are overwhelmed by the support and generosity of so many which includes everybody connected with C-O-T, it makes this whole adventure an amazing experience.
I have lost 3 stone in weight now and i am visiting the gym and running and trekking as much as time permits, soon to take part in the london 10k for the second year running. The challenge is a chapter in my life i know i will look back on with a smile.

November 2011......Well here we are 177 days to go till take off, our target has nearly been reached and we just know with the continued support it will be exceeded.
serious training will commence on January 1st with a detailed training programme to follow. watch this space and thanks again to so many for there support.

April 2012.......So with training bringing its many ups and downs to this challenge I still feel that this chapter in my life is a life changing one. Unfortunately the need for knee surgery after the trip has brought issues i was not hoping for but I will continue to do my best with the challenge as i always have done. Training is going really well with lots of step work and steep slope climbing.
We have exceeded our fundraising amount that we pledged which is for Sarah and I a huge achievement. I thank everyone for their continued support.
40 days to go......
