hi everyone,

As Sarah has previously mentioned what a night Saturday was, enjoyed by so many. It was a great way to put an end to our 18 month fund raising challenge. £5711 raised so far and yes we have only 15 days till we depart.
I'm getting nervous now, thinking have I done enough, have I packed the right stuff and most importantly am I fit enough. Only time will tell.

We are in the process of ordering some charity clothing which will tell people what we are doing and who we are doing it for, thanks to Hi Trade are wonderful charity shop in Sidcup who kindly donated the money which will pay for the clothing.

Well training yet again for me has been disrupted by my shift work and also a new injury to my calf, pulled muscle seems like nothing but goodness it hurts when in full flow. I did manage a 4 mile run on Tuesday and I will go again soon to do the same today. I have Monday off work so my plan is to complete a 4 hour walk, this is will be the longest i have done for a while. May 6th Sarah and I and our trainer Anna will be taking on the Bewl water challenge walking 13 miles, we hope to beat last years time.

well that leaves me to say, thanks for following us on our blog. If you are a regular visitor then please do drop me an email and say hello at emmastan@hotmail.co.uk
it would be great to see who is following us.

Elvis has left the building!!!!

What an amazing night this Saturday was it was our Elvis fund raising evening held at the Rarebreeds Centre. It was a ticket only event which included Chinese buffet and we had sold all our 150 tickets well in advance of the big night. We were full to the max, so it was all hands on deck to help out. Once everyone arrived Emma and her sister starting selling raffle tickets whilst I was busy organising who & where we were serving the food.
We had 150 people to serve the food too but it all went smoothly with all our helpers that kindly volunteered to help for the evening. Once the food had been served Elvis made his grand entrance and he went down a storm, everyone loved him. Once we had cleared away all the plates etc it was no stopping for us as the desserts were to be served. Gilly had made a selection of desserts including banana fritters, I did manage to try these and they were lovely.
We also had the best dressed Elvis competition and raffle that took place through out the evening, it all went so quickly but I'm sure everyone enjoyed themselves.
It just leaves me to say a big thank you for all the staff that worked and all the people that volunteered to help on the evening we couldn't have done it without you.

Thank you to the following:

Gilly
James
Anna
Phil
June
Heather
Ben
Dom
Pete

and of course Andy & Sarah who the ones who really organised the night and sourced the fantastic Elvis.

Elvis comes really recommended please take a look at his website for more info

All preparations are going well and all 150 tickets have been sold and still people are wanting to come.

I'm hoping it will be a great night and all the residents that have brought tickets are all looking forward to it. We even have the best dressed Elvis competition!!

Gilly our chef/restaurant manager has the huge task of cooking and preparing the chinse buffett I'm sure she will do an excellant job, we have good faith in Gilly and I'm sure the food will be yummy.

Will let you know how it goes and I will try to get some good photo's of the KING!

Less than 4 weeks to our challenge and still training, I went out on Saturday with Dino for a 3 hour walk, I found a new route!
Anna printed off some new routes from the internet which are mainly walks around Tenterden & Rolvenden, so on Sunday decided to give one of these a go. We too k Dino with us as well and after another 3 hour walk tonight he is knacked!!!!

Emma and I met up briefly to discuss the fast approaching Elvis night to see who's doing what and arrange times etc! We have sold all 150 tickets which is amazing so lets hope its a fantastic night and I can't wait to see Elvis strutt his stuff!

Happy Easter everyone, hope you have had a good long weekend and have been eating lots of choc! I have been working but I did have yestersay off and was determined to do some training but the weather wasn't brilliant however I did manage a 2 hour walk with my sis. I was working this morning and as the weather is awful I went to the gym instead.

I don't think the weather is going to be very good this week so maybe more gym work lays ahead!

Training update

Five weeks today we will be flying high on our way to Beijing. I have had a good training week this week, I completed a six mile bike ride, six mile trek and some more steps work on the leas cliff at Folkstone.
I have been in contact with Sarah who informed me that we have sold about 100 tickets for our Elvis night that is being held at the Falcons Centre at The Rare Breeds on 21st April. This will be a great opportunity for people to wish us luck and is of course our last fundraiser. we are both looking forward to the evening.

Out late this afternoon training for those that are local I walked from Appledore to Ruckinge along the Milltary Canal, took Dino & I just under 2 1/2 hours. I believe Dino is the fittest dog around at the moment!

Emma's Update

Hi All,

so much to update you all on, firstly the dreaded cold set me back yet another week with training but since I have been feeling better which is the last couple of days and my chest has allowed me to train I have done really well with my training down at the Leas Cliff. Running on the beach and up and the down the endless amount of steps and I also headed to Wye downs on Wednesday which is where I took on the step slopes.
Sarah is correct my Visa is back and I have even made a really good start on the packing.
so onto hospital results (MRI scan) they conclude that I need surgery so when I return from China I will have six days before I head to my local hospital on the 30th May for more knee surgery.  I think many will think that my surgery is required because of the training I have undertaken for china but this is not the case, a knee injury sustained many years ago has already seen me have 4 operations so it was always going to cause issues along my lifetime. Just unfortunate it is so near to china.
Five weeks, six days and we are up, up and away.............

catch up soon

Emma
