Ups and downs of training

So its 50 days till we head to china, i have decided its coming round far to quick now. I have just been to asda brought all my toiletries, sun cream and the most important thing 10 large packs of haribos (sarah there down to 50p a pack at moment).
My bag is almost packed now so on to training. It was going ever so well when yet again my body has let me down, i have the dreaded lergy and so now as i lay on the sofa under a blanket freezing i look outside at the sunshine wishing and thinking that on my very rare day off i could be on the wye downs.
It has been going well though and i hope a few days rest will see me fit for saturday when i take on the steps of leas cliff again.
Consultant tomorrow when i recieve my MRI results and discuss the operation i will need when i return. so until time.

take care all

With less than 7 weeks to go before we set off on our challenge training is going well. I was on leave from work last week but no rest for me! I was out everyday training this involved either cycling, walking, running or the gym. I set off yesterday morning for a bit of a dog walk and ended up walking for 3 hours! I didn't here a peep out of the dogs, they slept all afternoon!

Emma is doing well with her steps challenge at the Leas Cliff, I know she was back there today. I'm hoping to join her on Saturday so she can show me whats it all about.

The steps of leas cliff

Hi everyone,

Firstly what a night last Friday was, enjoyed by so many and yet another £457 banked to the charity. Taking us over our target amount with 8 weeks to go. Thanks to everyone who supported us, to those who donated prizes for the raffle and to the helpers on the night,

Now my training news, I took on the Great Leas cliff challenge and well and truly beat it. 1000 steps up 3 different sections of The Leas cliff in folkestone. I actually enjoyed it. Was a good 90 minute work out after the 7 miles we completed last Sunday, yesterday a whole day walking around London and tomorrow we take on a 3 hour trek I would say its a good training week for me. And my knee liked it. I see my consultant next Friday to receive my MRI results and discuss surgery options....wish me luck

I will blog again soon.

As you know Emma and I have exceeded our fund raising amount which is fantastic news for us and even more good news for the charity. I want to thank everyone that has contributed along the away including friends, family, colleagues and local business's and of course the Hine family. Pete, Lynn & Jodie Hine have supported us through out all our fund raising activities and have kindly donated prizes for all our raffles that were drawn on our quiz nights.

Well good news folks thanks to a great turn out at our quiz on Friday night we have managed to exceed our fund raising target of £5000. This is great and I would like to thank everyone for their help, support & donations over the past year. Emma and I have been fund raising since October 2010, with many events organised last Friday night was the last one of these before we head out to China to take on our challenge. Friday night saw us host our 3rd quiz night, the night went really well & I hope everyone enjoyed themselves we managed to raise £447. Thank you to all that took part & to those who couldn't make it but brought raffle tickets before hand, we really appreciate your support.

Also thank you to

Phil (Emma's dad)
June (Emma's mum)
Heather (Emma's sister)
James ( my hubby)
Lynn Hine - who made cakes to sell on the night

They all gave up their time to help on the night & we couldn't have done it without you.

I would also like to personally thank my sis Anna who has been a great support & Angela who works in our Fund raising department at work. Angela has been the one at the end of the phone with any questions we have had about our challenge & has sorted out any essential paper work that has needed to be done.

Only a couple of days to go until the quiz night and I have managed to loose my voice!!!! Its slowly coming back which is good news for Emma otherwise she will have to get on the mic and ask all the quiz questions!!!!

We are both off to Hitrade Charity Shop tomorrow to see all the volunteers that work so hard, we are going along to lend a hand and I'm sure we will end up buying lots too. My car is also full with lots of items that people have kindly donated to the shop as well, so with just whats in my car will surely take a day to sort out!

Will let you know how we get on

weather and training

Hi all,

This weather is shocking heavy rain and cold temperatures it makes training near impossible plus Sarah is feeling under the weather so today's intended trek was cancelled and instead I will head to the gym. I started running again on Thursday with 2 miles and then again yesterday. Training will be slow and steady for me which is better than no training at all. The quiz night is just days away and i am getting my normal butterflies. Its exciting at the same time though as we will be yet again raising a good amount of money for Canterbury Oast Trust.

MRI is done and I will contact the hospital tomorrow to arrange an appointment to get the results.

well that was a quick update but I will post again soon.

I met up with Emma the other night to make sure we have everything prepared for the quiz night next week. We have been through the questions & answers, hoping they are all right! But as I have said before I'm only human & to the best of my knowledge the answers I have are all right! We have organised the raffle prizes, 10 brilliant prizes that have been kindly donated by local business companies. A big thank you to them, only yesterday we were kindly donated a DAB radio for the raffle, our thanks to:
