Well well well how are we all? God its turned cold bring back the hot weather!

Well has anybody heard of the the new craze at the moment of putting your feet into a tank of water and the fish nibbling all your dry skin? Its meant to be really good for your feet and the fish love it. So after going to visit my gran this morning my sister and I went to try this out. With all the running, cycling and dog walking I do my poor feet aren't the best looking! So for those that don't know there is a new shop opened up in Ashford called APPY FEET, we went straight in, no appointment needed. You sit there dangling your feet into the tank of water and all the fish swarm around your feet. It didn't really like this feeling but I persevered as I know the fish were doing a good job. Anyway after all that my feet are now as smooth as a baby's bum! Next time I'm going to take Emma, god have you seen the state of her pinky's!

On a more serious note, I paid in some more money today which has now made our total £2756.00, I think we are well on track and its a big thank you to all that have donated, you know who you are. x

Hope you all enjoyed your Easter break, I don't want to see or eat any more chocolate ever again! Not having eaten any chocolate for 3 months was maybe a bit to long! Got loads of the stuff, so lucky for James he can have my share of Easter chocolate too.

Can I also say thank you to my trekking partner Emma for all her hard work over the last couple of weeks, especially giving up her free time by volunteering herself for car park duties which is always a joy!

Thank you to Nikki and Adam for their help with bucket collections during Pig Race!

Emma and I had a well deserved day off today, having worked non stop for 2 weeks and Easter weekend we treated ourselves to a day out. We went to see the Titanic Exhibition in London at the O2 arena, well worth a visit.

I have also got this week off and have lots planned so will keep you posted.

Hello everyone,

Sorry its been a while since I last posted its been busy busy as you can tell from Sarah's posts we have been busy fundraising down on the farm as well as working, I have been doing a lot of sleep ins which means long 24 hr shifts so my holiday to Turkey on the 9th May can't come quick enough.

Well what can I say but thank you so so much to all the visitors who came to the Rare breeds Centre during the last two weeks I have done some maths and worked out we raised over £600 from our collections. Yes wow.

I took some time off from my normal duties care side at C-O-T to volunteer myself to help out at the Easter event on the farm, a 4 day event with the very warm temperatures meant many people visited the centre, days started with a little car parking which as you can see we both really took to our role very seriously.

after car parking we took to the farm to meet and greet the visitors and yes i did dress up as a chicken, even with the temperatures so high i got into the spirit of Easter, Sarah dressed up as a rabbit, photo evidence provided

after we finished dressing up and promoting the trek we did our bucket collections just before pig racing which is where we experienced the generosity of so many people who we are so grateful to for donating so kindly.

after the long hot days it was indeed time for.......an Easter egg or two, a sit down and an ice cold drink of.......malibu and sprite. not ideal for the training but we have a year to go till we set off on our journey to The Great Wall of China so hopefully we will make up for it.

I recall Sunday morning when Sarah could indeed tuck into chocolate, it was quite amazing how she stuck to her challenge of not eating chocolate and I had great pleasure in sharing some seashell chocs with Sarah. well done Sarah I may, and I mean may join you next year.
well we have our 13 mile trek this Sunday around Bewl water, testing out the boots, I do hope our feet survive we will of course inform you all and may have a picture or two.
I will say goodbye as my beloved Manchester united are about to kick off in the champions league, yes I'm sorry football is taking priority here.

Thank you again to all our supporters who donated during the Easter break.

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE

How are we all? Enjoying the Easter weekend and the weather? Emma and I have had another successful couple of days, yesterday at pig race we raised £43.03 and today £70.93. These totals are just fantastic. Over the last two weeks of the Easter holidays Emma and I have been out meeting and greeting people everyday. Pig racing has been the highlight of each day and this is where we have been introducing ourselves and where the public have been giving very generously to our charity.
A big thank you to all those members of the public who have donated over the past couple of weeks we both really appreciate your support.

I'm off now to eat some chocolate!

Good evening

Just got back from biking, yes still trying to keep fit! walked the dogs, cooked James's dinner and that's all after a days work and fundraising. I have just parked my bum on the sofa, honest! Emma and I have been on the go all day today. We both had  another really successful day at the farm, Emma did dress up in her chicken outfit but she didn't last long as it was so hot, so after a little while she did have to take it off. I don't blame her, I didn't want her fainting on me! I dressed up as a bunny and had my face painted but again as it was so hot, the paint smudged off my face. I will have photo evidence soon to prove we did make the effort to dress up! The most important thing though was raising money for the charity and our grand total today was £113.03, this was from donations through out the day and at Pig Racing. I really can't believe this amount it is truly amazing and there are some very kind and generous people out there and Emma and I can not thank you enough we do really appreciate your donations.

Emma and I will of course be up the farm tomorrow so will keep you posted on how it goes.

Well Easter is upon us and Emma and I look forward to meeting you all at the centre, will keep you posted on how the weekend goes x

Hello all

Another busy day down at The Rarebreeds again today I managed along with help from my colleagues a massive £64.90 at Pig Racing today, this is just amazing so thank you to all those members of the public that donated and also thank you to the kind young lady that wished me luck with the trek. It all means so much to Emma and I. I didn't do Pig Race Tuesday as the microphone was broken and I know you are all thinking I could shout but honestly have you ever tried talking to a crowd of hundreds of people and making sure they understand what your on about? Didn't think so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway hopefully we are all back in working order from now on!
I'm looking forward to the Easter weekend as the forecast looks good and Emma has some time off work so she will be joining me down the old farm. Please, please do come along and visit we have lots of of activities going on & baby animals for you to see including chicks, lambs, piglets, baby goats. Oh yes did I forget to mention Emma will be dressing up as a chicken, now surely that's worth a visit even if it's just to see her!

Well the sun is shining which is good news for The Rarebreeds Centre, it means the place is buzzing with people making it a great place to work. It was my turn again to do Pig Racing which I got very embrassed about as the microphone stopped working half way through which made me look rather silly. I ended up trying to shout my way through the race, James said that I wouldn't have found that hard! Bucket collection made the charity a whopping £61.57 so Thank you again to all those kind, friendly people I met that donated.

The Easter weekend is not far away and the forcast looks good. Emma and I will be dressing up, meeting and greeting people and trying to raise as much money as we possibly can. So if you are planning to visit the centre be sure to come and find us.

I have 1 week to go before I can eat chocolate yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Bo is also getting in the Easter spirit

By Emma

Wow everyone is so amazing, the amount of money that people donate why on a day trip out to the Rare Breeds centre is beyond our wildest dreams, Sarah has been doing such a brilliant job lately promoting the challenge and fundraising during the pig races held at the farm. Work and a stinking cold have not permitted me to be able to be there as much as I would like but I'm so excited that I have Easter off work and I am drinking lemsips like there my best friends so will be down on the farm for Easter.
Can I please just personally thank everyone who has donated recently and to my old trekking pal Sarah for all her hard work.
Not long till may 1st where we will be taking on our first training day trekking 13 miles around bewl water.
(not long till my turkey holiday either 20 days and counting)

Will blog again soon

Hi all

Well another 6 day working week out the way, got a day off tomorrow yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee hoping that its gonna be so I can chill in the garden. Did anyone see Emma and my write up in the paper? I picked up loads of copies as they were free. The article is in the Free Ashford Herald if anyone fancies a laugh at our photo!

Oh yes to set the record straight about me eating chocolate, coz I here Emma has been whining and causing a scene about it! I only had 1 toffeee which has a very small chocolate button on top, yes I do admit that is  chocolate but at least I lasted more than 1 day without eating chocolate!

Hi all,
Had one on them texts yesterday morning from Sarah saying "ring me urgent" I love these texts because they mean one of two things good or bad news. This one was really good news, it was the news that the ashford herald wanted to run an article. Like Sarah said we are both really excited about this and had great fun doing a DIY photo shoot.
Why at the farm today I witnessed something that knocked me back abit, SARAH ATE CHOCOLATE, I know what your all thinking after the telling off she gave me she popped a chewy toffee/ choc in her mouth like it was a normal thing to do. Gobsmacked I was.
We are both busy looking for our Easter outfits, at the moment it looks like I will be dressing up as a chicken for my time down on the farm, watch this space.
Well after my training session tonight it's an early night for me so bye for now.

Oh yes just one other thing I just wanted to say hello to Sarahs folks who are visiting from Ireland.

Posted by Sarah 5-4-2011

Well another busy week for me, the old folk are over visiting from Ireland so am busy trying to spend time with them at the moment.
More good news I had a guy called Adam on the phone to me yesterday, he works for the Herald newspaper. He is very interested in printing an article on Emma, me and the China Trek, well as you can imagine we were both really excited. Adam wanted to send a photographer down to the Rarebreeds Centre to take photos of us both but because Emma does shift work in our care homes off site we both wasn't able to get our photos taken in time before the deadline! So Emma and I did are own DIY photos and sent them to Adam, so lets hope they are pleased with them and that they can use them.

So it just leaves me to say please buy the Ashford Herald thisThursday (7th April) and have a look at the article and the photos Emma & I took!

Hi all

I know I haven't been around for a while, I have been mega busy honest. I'm working 6 days a week at the mo, in fact I've just got back home from working in the gift shop at The Rarebreeds Centre today. All the extra money I'm earning is going towards my Visa and spending money for our trek. I have also been busy seeing the 2nd love of my life ENRIQUE! (the 1st love of my life being BON JOVI!) Sorry James!
Well I saw Enrique at the o2 arena last Friday night, of course he was amazing, god I love him.

How can you not like him?

Also Thursday night I was back at the o2 arena again this time to see Peter Kay, my friend brought the tickets way back in 2009. So the day finally came round and we had a great evening, I would defiantly recommend going to see him.
So I have had a busy couple of weeks so I'm gonna stay in and chill tonight but not before updating about our quiz night. I hope you have all read what Emma had to say regarding the quiz night which took place on 24th March. I know I will end up repeating some of what Emma has said but please bear with me! Well where do I start Emma and I had an unbelievable night, it all went to plan and almost 150 people came along to support us. We had 17 teams in all, which were made up of friends, family and colleagues. It was my job to read out all the quiz questions while Emma was in charge of marking papers, keeping check on everyone and to make sure everything was going to plan. We were selling cook books and raffle tickets on the night, during a break from the questions we drew the raffle, which consisted of 20 prizes kindley donated from local business's, including the 1st prize which was donated by Lyn, Pete and Jodie Hine from Minners Farm Livery based in Bethersden http://www.minnersfarmliveries.com/

I hope everyone enjoyed themwelves on the night, Emma and I wanted it to fun and not serious and it did look like everyone was having a good time. The winning team was the Odd Squad so well done to them. We also had a prize for the best team name which was We Might Struggle!

Emma and I had a hugly sucessful night and with donations, sales from raffle tickets and cook books we raised the amazing amount of £795.90 and if it wasn't for the help of June, Phil, Heather, James and Adam we defiantly wouldn't have coped, so its a big thank you to them. They all spent most of the night behind the bar serving as it was so busy! June was also selling raffle tickets for us as and at the end of the night they all stayed behind to help clear up as well.

I cannot believe the amount we managed to raise and I would like to thank the following people again!

Kirstyn and Webbo - KMFM dj's who have supported the Trust and us on the radio
Local business's who donated the raffle prizes
All the people that came along and supported us for the evening
June and Phil - Emma's mum & dad
Heather - Emma's sister
Adam - my work colleague
and of course my old pal Emma - my trekking partner!

As I said before I couldn't have done it all without you, thank you so much for a geat night xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
